A dynamic company, Super Wash, Inc., headquartered in Morrison, Illinois, has built hundreds of facilities from the ground up. Currently, there are approximately 270 Super Wash® car wash locations in 19 states.

When you become a part of Super Wash, you're investing in your future. Consider the facts:

From site location and building construction, to installation of the equipment for your new wash, we'll give you guidance as a new operator, and our support doesn't end when we hand you the keys. We'll train you on how to manage your new business, as well as offer you technical services and advertising tools.

• Super Wash is a business with integrity. It is our sincere desire to see our franchisees succeed. That's why we don't just seek out owners, we seek out special, "right-hearted" individuals who embrace our philosophy to "meet and greet each customer with a glad heart and make a positive difference in their day." We base our business on hard work and honesty. That's the bottom line.

The Super Wash story is truly the "Cinderella story" of a determined young couple from Morrison, Illinois, $17.42, and a dream that wouldn't die.

It was the mid-70s and Bob Black, a teacher, and his wife Mary, a radiology secretary, were looking for a way to supplement their income during Bob's summer breaks. Mary had become interested in the self-serve car wash business, and mentioned it as an option for their new business venture. Bob, however, had doubts about the idea. He felt that there wouldn't be enough profit in a business that ran on quarters alone.

But in the summer of 1975, Bob had an experience that changed his view of the car wash business forever.

After a long day of drying off cars at a church fundraiser, Bob ended up helping the owner of the wash empty his safes. "From the time I lifted my first five-gallon bucket of quarters, I was hooked on the car wash business!" Bob says with a smile.

With the decision made to pursue the car wash business, Bob and Mary came up with a plan of action. They designed building plans, calculated costs and income, and went to the bank for a loan; but the bank wasn't quite ready for this enthusiastic couple. With no collateral of any sort and just $17.42 in their checking account, they were rejected.

Thankfully, the story doesn't end here. Thirteen tries, and thirteen lending institutions later, Bob and Mary finally heard a "yes!"

In July of 1976, a bank finally put its trust in the Blacks and their dream. With help from Bob's father, Buryl, the Blacks' first car wash was under construction that fall, and opened on November 26th amidst one of the coldest winters in Illinois history. But despite the weather, this lone car wash on the edge of town, appropriately named Town's Edge Car Wash, was a booming success! Six years and five car washes later, the Blacks incorporated as Super Wash, Inc., and were on their way to owning all or part of the 120 Super Wash facilities they own today.

Super Wash has served as the general contractor for the construction of over 600 car washes. We provide job site supervisors who will be at your construction site daily, and will monitor the progress of the building laborers to ensure quality construction in a timely manner. Super Wash generally subs out the plumbing, electrical, excavation and paving work. Our personnel typically do all building layout, floor preparation, masonry and roof work. We always install and test the equipment, and offer training on its proper use.

Super Wash offers management services to outside operators on a very limited basis. For 15 years we've been managing washes for absentee owners. Currently, we manage the day to day operations of 125+ facilities across the country. For a percentage of the gross revenue, our very capable staff handles the hiring and training of wash staff, bookkeeping, auditing, and day-to-day operations.

Super Wash provides advertising assistance to each of our washes. We provide Super Wash franchisees with a media kit including newspaper ads, radio commercials, and other helpful ideas for successful promotions.

We also hold an annual National Holiday Promotion that has proven to be extremely exciting.

The Super Wash Parts and Service Department carries parts and provides troubleshooting expertise to all Super Wash facilities. Our parts department carries an inventory of replacement and maintenance parts, promotional items, and Super Wash clothing. On a typical day we ship up to 100 parcels and other items to Super Wash car washes across the country. As an additional service to our franchisees, we offer a rental program that often saves them from purchasing major spare parts while a warranty exchange is in process. Our service technicians are available by phone 7 days a week – even on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Easter.

Super Wash, Inc.'s success is not just the result of business savvy – it's also the result of dedication, hard work and honesty.

Super Wash, Inc. is dedicated to giving back to the communities that have given us so much. As a concerned corporate citizen, Super Wash feels that there's no better way to keep kids safe, than to help fight the war on drugs.

Funds have been donated to the Whiteside (IL) County and Bureau (IL) County Sheriff's Department for the purchase of three drug dogs; and to the Urbana, OH, Police Department's D.A.R.E. Program for the purchase of an interactive, remote control police car called "P.C. Robot."

K-9 Units
Super Wash first became involved in this venture in December of 1999 when Bob and Mary Black, of Super Wash, and its sister company, Town's Edge Car Wash, Inc.,donated funds to the Whiteside (IL) County Sheriff's Department for a new K-9 unit.

Police dog, Pico, and his handler, Deputy Michael Boucher, underwent extensive training and are now an established drug fighting team. In addition to the drug prevention work they do on the streets of Whiteside County, they also travel to local schools as part of the D.A.R.E. program to educate kids on the dangers of drug use.

Since December of 1999, Bob and Mary Black, through Super Wash, Inc. and its sister company Town's Edge Car Wash, Inc. have donated funds to the Bureau (IL) county Sheriff's Department and the Rock Falls (IL) city police department for K-9 units. In addition to sponsoring K-9 units, from time to time Bob and Mary host K-9 and handler training sessions with K-9 trainer Brian Gregory of Northern Michigan K-9, Inc.

In March 2000, Super Wash purchased P.C. Robot, an interactive remote control car for the Urbana, OH, Police Department. This 3-foot tall car with flashing red and blue lights, working speakers, and microphone, is being used to promote the Police Department's D.A.R.E. and safety programs.

Bob and Mary Black and Super Wash, Inc. are honored and humbled to be afforded the opportunity to sponsor a number of Veteran's Memorials. They are involved with the current development of memorials in Morrison, IL, Prophetstown, IL, and Princeton, IL. We at Super Wash are so grateful for all U.S. veterans have done, and current service people do, for us and this great nation. "Freedom Rings Because of You."
